I caught a quick snatch on the radio yesterday about a proposal that Canada join in a Soviet Mars expedition. I think this was put forward at a major conference in Montreal this week. Anybody have details? The reporter concluded that since most of Canada's space budget was tied into the NASA station project, participation was probably not feasible. I also assume they've asked other countries. (ESA?). Another suggestion was that there be a world-wide standard docking apparatus - dare I say, a "universal" docking adapter. :-) Since the Apollo-Soyuz days, this hasn't really been too realistic. I presume they meant for shuttles and space stations, since having say, Discovery and Buran butt noses would accomplish little. -- {uunet!mnetor, unicus, yunexus,}!geac!cbs (Chris Syed)
