KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - MONDAY, NOV. 21, 1988 STS-27 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - PAD 39-B Over the weekend, workers serviced the auxiliary power units with lube oil and water. Today, the orbital maneuvering system pods and reaction control system will be pressurized for flight. Shortly after midnight, the pad will be cleared of all non- essential personnel for ordnance installation part one. Ordnance devices will be installed in various parts of the shuttle vehicle in preparation for flight. During this job, tests of the systems used in initiating the explosive charges will be conducted. Orbiter aft closeouts are underway today with a goal to complete this work by Wednesday and have the flight doors installed on the aft compartment. Tomorrow, the power reactant storage and distribution system will be purged for flight. The plan is to power Atlantis down at midnight on Wednesday for the Thursday Thanksgiving holiday. The vehicle would remain powered down until Friday second shift for ordnance installation part two. Launch countdown preparations are underway this week. The countdown is scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 28 for the Dec. 1 launch of STS-27. STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1 Deservicing of the freon cooling system is underway as part of the flash evaporator system (FES) removal and replacement activity. Discovery was powered down early Saturday for about 11 days while the evaporator system is being replaced. Thermal protection system operations are continuing. No work is planned on Thanksgiving Day. STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 2 The payload bay doors were opened over the weekend. Orbiter modifications and thermal protection system operations are underway. No work is planned on Columbia on Thanksgiving Day. STS-29 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB The right forward center and aft center segments were mated early this morning. The left forward assembly was moved to the transfer aisle and is scheduled to be lifted today and connected to the left booster. The solid rocket booster stacking activity will be suspended over the holidays.
