KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - TUESDAY, NOV. 22, 1988
STS-27 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - PAD 39-B
The propellant storage tanks for the orbital maneuvering
system and the reaction control system were pressurized for
flight yesterday.
The pad will be cleared of all non-essential personnel for
part of the day while ordnance operations are underway. Explosive
charges will be installed in various parts of the shuttle vehicle
and the systems that activate the devices will be checked out.
Tomorrow, the power reactant storage and distribution system
will be purged. These fuel cell storage tanks will be loaded with
liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen reactants during the launch
countdown.
The vehicle is scheduled to be powered down Wednesday at
midnight for the Thanksgiving holiday, and will be powered back
up on Friday evening for final ordnance operations.
Launch countdown preparations are scheduled for later today.
The countdown is scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 28 for a planned
Dec. 1 liftoff of the shuttle Atlantis on mission STS-27.
STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1
Operations to remove and replace the flash evaporator system
are active while Discovery is powered down. Thermal protection
system operations are underway.
STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 2
The payload bay doors will be closed to allow tile
operations on the orbiter's sidewalls. Checkout of the electrical
system and orbiter modifications are underway.
STS-29 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB
The left forward assembly is scheduled to be lifted over the
transom and into the high bay this morning for mating to the left
booster. The right forward segment was transferred to the storage
facility where it will stay for a week.
