[sci.space.shuttle] It's off!

greg@proxftl.UUCP (Gregory N. Hullender) (12/02/88)

I just finished watching Atlantis head into orbit. We're over 200
miles south of the Space Center, but it was a bright, clear, cold (60
degrees) morning with unlimited visibility to the north, so we could see
the flame below the shuttle and the column of smoke behind it up until
SRB separation. And that was almost 20 degrees above the horizon.

Not as good as watching getting a pass and watching it from the Cape, but
still lots of fun.
