           KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT FOR - Monday, Dec. 19, 1988

                       STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1

               Over the weekend, workers completed the brake anti-skid test
          and planned verification testing of the forward reaction control
          system and orbital maneuvering system (OMS) pods.

               Operations planned this week include checkout of the waste
          containment system, a test of the radar altimeter, testing of the
          main propulsion system and waterproofing the tiles.

               A functional check of the payload bay doors is planned this
          week prior to closure on Friday for the Christmas holidays.


                     STS-27  -  ATLANTIS (0V 104)  -  OPF BAY 2

               Post-flight deconfiguration continues on the orbiter
          Atlantis. Inspections of the new chin panel are underway and
          tiles are being inspected and removed as necessary. So far, about
          80 new tiles have been ordered from Rockwell.

               Preparations are underway to drain residual hypergolic
          propellant from the lines in the OMS pods and hydrazine from the
          auxiliary power units. Post-flight checks of the main engines are
          underway. The tailcone was removed Friday night.


                        STS-28  -  COLUMBIA (OV 102)  -  OMRF

               Return-to-flight modifications are thermal protection system
          activities are continuing this week.


                         STS-29 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS  - VAB

               Last week, the external tank was mated to the solid rocket
          boosters. Activities planned this week include routing and
          connecting cables.
