KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 1989

                        STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - VAB

Technicians made repairs to tiles on the landing gear doors
yesterday while the orbiter was in the transfer aisle. The right
outboard tire on the right main landing gear was changed after a
          small nick was discovered.

Today, Discovery is scheduled to be hoisted to the vertical
position and carefully lowered in between the tank and boosters
later today. After the vehicle elements are connected, a test of
the critical connections will be performed. Rollout to Launch Pad
39-B is now targeted for 12:01 a.m. EST Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Schedulers are currently assessing the impact to the assessed
          launch date of Feb. 23.

Meanwhile, workers at the launch pad loaded hydrazine aboard
the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite yesterday and will
pressurize the tank today. The STS-29 payload will be loaded into
Discovery's payload bay the day after the vehicle arrives at the
          pad.

                     STS-30 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - OPF BAY 2

The right orbital maneuvering system pod is scheduled to be
transferred from the Hypergolic Maintenance Facility to the OPF
today. Technicians repaired and inspected the pod after Atlantis'
mission and will reinstall it later today. Systems testing and
          tile repairs are continuing.

                     STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1

Columbia was transferred from the Orbiter Modification and
Processing Facility to OPF bay 1 yesterday afternoon. Columbia is
scheduled to remain in bay 1 for pre-launch processing and
return-to-flight modifications until May. Power up testing is
          planned to start this week.

                      STS-30 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

Leak checks of the left forward joint are underway today.
The left forward assembly is scheduled to be inspected and
          stacked tomorrow.
