KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - MONDAY, JANUARY 30, 1989

                        STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - VAB

Discovery was powered up last night for the Shuttle
Interface Test which verifies the critical connections between
the vehicle elements and the launch platform. Technicians are
removing heat shields from two of the main engines in case a
decision is made to replace the oxidizer turbo pumps. Shuttle
managers discussed the possibility of replacing at least two of
the pumps over the weekend, but need more data before making a
          firm decision.

Over the weekend, workers completed making connections
between the vehicle elements. Repairs were made to a protective
rubber boot for the electrical connectors between the orbiter and
external tank in the liquid hydrogen 17-inch cavity umbilical.

Rollout of Discovery to Launch Pad 39-B is now targeted for
no earlier than 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2

                     STS-30 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - OPF BAY 2

Testing of the right orbital maneuvering system pod is
underway and technicians are repairing a leaky thruster on the
left hand pod. The new chin panel was reinstalled this weekend
after post-flight inspections and measurements. Orbiter systems
testing and tile repairs are continuing this week.

                     STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1

Columbia is scheduled to be powered up today and the payload
bay doors will be opened. Once the orbiter is powered up, testing
will commence on the main propulsion system and the orbiter's
communication and navigation systems. Technicians are continuing
          to bond tiles.

STS-30 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

The right aft booster was moved into the VAB transfer aisle
early this morning and will be stacked on the launch platform
later this afternoon. Closeouts of the left booster are
          continuing.
