          KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1989


                        STS-29  -  DISCOVERY (OV 103)  -  VAB

               Preparations for rolling Discovery to Launch Pad 39-B are
          continuing in the Vehicle Assembly Building. The Shuttle
          Interface Test is scheduled to be completed by tonight and
          rollout preparations are underway.

               The STS-29 vehicle remains scheduled to be rolled out to
          Launch Pad 39-B at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3.

               In parallel with rollout preparations, workers are
          continuing to get ready for changing out oxidizer turbo pumps on
          Discovery's main engines in case a decision is made to replace
          the pumps with new ones. Shuttle managers are evaluating
          technical data on this pump issue and will meet later today.


                     STS-30  -  ATLANTIS (0V 104)  -  OPF BAY 2

               Orbiter systems testing continues in bay 2 on Atlantis.
          Technicians are continuing work on a leaky thruster and polishing
          a dynatube in the left orbital maneuvering system pod. Servicing
          of the orbiter's potable water, preparation for servicing the
          auxiliary power units with lube oil and check out of the water
          spray boilers are operations scheduled this week. Testing of the
          power reactant storage and distribution system has been
          completed.


                     STS-28  -  COLUMBIA (OV 102)  -  OPF BAY 1

               Columbia's payload bay doors were opened yesterday and tests
          of the main propulsion system and the communications and
          navigations systems are planned. 


                        STS-30 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS  -  VAB

               Technicians are completing the connections of the right aft
          booster today. Meanwhile, technicians in the RPSF are preparing
          the other right segments for stacking.
