KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - THURSDAY, FEB. 16, 1989

                     STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - PAD 39-B

The third oxidizer turbo pump arrived last night and is
currently at the pad being prepared for installation. The other
two pumps are being secured on the main engines. Leak checks of
the pumps will be conducted after the pumps are secured on the
main engines. Installation of the three pumps and the associated
testing is scheduled to be completed prior to the end of this
          month.

A 22-hour interface verification test of the Tracking and
Data Relay Satellite and its Inertial Upper Stage was completed
yesterday. Data gathered from the test will be reviewed today.
The test is designed to verify connections between the payload
and the orbiter. Today, a test of the OASIS instrumentation in
the payload bay is scheduled. Tomorrow, the payload end-to-end
test is scheduled which verifies communications capabilities
between ground stations and the TDRS/IUS payload.

                     STS-30 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - OPF BAY 2

A functional check of the orbiter's waste containment system
has been completed. The tires for the nose landing gear arrived
at the OPF yesterday and preparations for installation will
begin. Thermal protection system operations are continuing. The
flight tires for the main landing gear are scheduled to be
installed on Friday and Saturday. The payload bay doors will be
closed to allow tile operations on the hinges.

                     STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1

Yesterday, Rockwell technicians installed Columbia's new
chin panel just behind the nose cap. Power up testing is
continuing. Technicians are continuing to bond tiles.

STS-30 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

The right forward segment, the last motor segment for the
STS-30 set, was hoisted into the high bay and is being prepared
for mating overnight. The right forward assembly is in the VAB
and will be stacked after the right forward segment is connected
to the stack. The external tank will be mated to the boosters
this month after stacking operations are complete.
