Re. Jom Boyle's message from ANL: The Satnet Access Machine has been deliberately discarding lots of packets recently. They all appear to come from ANL-MCS. The reason is that this host is sending IP packets 596 bytes long - 20 bytes longer than the generally-agreed 576 maximum. It actually sends each packet in the form of three separate fragments. When the SAM tries to reassemble these into a single packet, it doesn't fit into the 576-byte buffer that has been provided. So the packet is dropped. All the packets are destined for 128.16.9.3;25. ANL-MCS are being contacted with a view to resolving this. Irene Hassell, liaison@ucl-cs
