[ Yet another question about the Shuttle's computers, however this is one I've never seen addressed. ] Much is made of the fact that the shuttle's five General Purpose Computers (GPC's) are circa-1972 technology. But an orbiter came on line just a couple of years ago (ATLANTIS), and another will be born soon (OV-105 aka THRESHER). So my question is, are they still fabricating GPC's these days? Or were a zillion of them built ten-fifteen years ago, or what? -- Tom Neff UUCP: ...!uunet!bfmny0!tneff "Truisms aren't everything." Internet: tneff@bfmny0.UU.NET
