[sci.space.shuttle] When were the GPC's actually assembled?

tneff@bfmny0.UUCP (Tom Neff) (05/12/89)

[ Yet another question about the Shuttle's computers, however this
is one I've never seen addressed. ]

Much is made of the fact that the shuttle's five General Purpose
Computers (GPC's) are circa-1972 technology. But an orbiter came
on line just a couple of years ago (ATLANTIS), and another will
be born soon (OV-105 aka THRESHER). So my question is, are they
still fabricating GPC's these days? Or were a zillion of them
built ten-fifteen years ago, or what?
