KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - MONDAY, JUNE 19, 1989

                     STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1

This past weekend, technicians replaced, for the second
time, a seal between the main combustion chamber and the high
pressure fuel turbopump on main engine number 1. Initial checks
of the new seal are good, and leak tests are planned today.
Installation of heat shields is scheduled to begin tonight
pending the results of the leak test.

A cabin leak test was successfully conducted last weekend.
Functional tests of the landing gears were completed this past
weekend. Preparations are underway for a positive pressure
          structural leak test today.

Technicians are cleaning the payload bay and installing
thermal blankets in the orbiter's midbody as part of orbiter
closeout operations. Technicians are continuing to bond tiles
with the cavity count this morning at 26. Eighteen of those
cavities are on the payload bay doors.

Columbia's target date for tow to the Vehicle Assembly
Building is no earlier than June 30. While in the VAB, Columbia
will be mated with its external tank and solid rocket boosters.

                      STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 2

Checks of the power reactant storage and distribution system
have been completed. This past weekend, the chin panel was
replaced and the waste containment system (WCS) and
the auxiliary power unit (APU) controllers were installed.
Functional tests are planned this week for the WCS and the APUs.

                       STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OMRF

Power down work scheduled this week includes wiring and
instrumentation improvements and modification of the crew seats
to allow more room for the crew when they wear the partial
pressure suits. Discovery will be transferred to bay 1 when
Columbia is moved to the VAB.

STS-28 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

Closeouts of the boosters and tank are underway in
preparation for mating with the orbiter Columbia.

                       STS-34 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

The left aft center segment was mated with the left aft
booster last night. The left forward center segment is scheduled
to be transferred to the Vehicle Assembly Building today and
lifted tomorrow night. Meanwhile, technicians are readying other
          STS-34 segments in the RPSF.
