KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - MONDAY, JULY 3, 1989

                     STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - VAB

An important step toward launch was accomplished early today
when the shuttle Columbia was rolled from its processing hangar
to the Vehicle Assembly Building. First motion came at 1:30 a.m.
and Columbia was spotted in the VAB transfer aisle at 2 a.m. The
sling has been attached and technicians are currently repairing
tile on the main landing gear doors.

Four of the five STS-28 astronauts, including Commander
Brewster Shaw, flew to KSC yesterday and walked with the orbiter
as it was towed to the VAB. The astronauts thanked the KSC team
for the effort put forth in preparing Columbia for their flight.

This evening, Columbia is scheduled to be hoisted vertically
into the high bay where it will be attached to its external tank.
A small work force is scheduled to continue making connections
between the tank and orbiter through the July fourth holiday.

Columbia's rollout is currently targeted for no earlier than
          12:01 a.m. Tuesday, July 11.

                      STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 2

Operations scheduled today include a leak test of the
environmental control system, a functional check of the waste
containment system and checkout of the forward reaction control
system. The three main engines are scheduled for installation
          later this week.

                       STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OMRF

Power down work and modifications continue this week in the
OMRF in the forward, mid and aft sections of the orbiter.
Discovery is scheduled to be transferred to bay 1 a week from
today. Preventative maintenance will be performed on equipment
used in bay 1 including the telescoping buckets used for access
          to the payload bay.

                       STS-34 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

Stacking operations are continuing on a non-interference
basis to the shuttle mating activities. The left forward assembly
is scheduled to be transferred to the VAB tonight and stacked on
Wednesday. The right aft center segment has been mated to the
right booster. Next Monday, the right forward center segment will
be transferred to the VAB for mating.
