KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - THURSDAY, JULY 6, 1989

                        STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - VAB

Technicians are continuing to connect the orbiter to the
external tank and launch platform. Both liquid hydrogen and
oxygen tail service masts have been connected Columbia. Some
alignment problems have been encountered in mating
the tank-to-orbiter liquid oxygen electrical connector which is
located next to the 17-inch disconnect line. Technicians will
make another attempt to mate that electrical connector again
today. Tile step and gap measurements will be taken around the
nose of the orbiter, gap fillers will be installed in various
areas and tile repairs will be made.

The Shuttle Interface Test is scheduled to begin no earlier
than tomorrow at midnight. The purpose of the test is to verify
all critical connections between the orbiter and the tank,
orbiter and boosters, orbiter and mobile launcher platform and to
perform a functional operation check of the solid rocket
          boosters' systems.

Columbia's rollout is currently targeted for no earlier than
          12:01 a.m. Wednesday, July 12.

                      STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 2

Preparations are underway to install the three main engines
this week. Two of the engines are scheduled to be installed today
and the third engine is slated for tomorrow. Preparations are
underway to remove the left orbital maneuvering system pod this
weekend. Operations continuing today include a leak test of the
environmental control system, a functional check of the waste
containment system and check out of the forward reaction control
          system.

                       STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OMRF

Power down work is continuing this week in the OMRF to
prepare Discovery for transfer to OPF bay 1 on Monday.
Preventative maintenance is being performed on equipment used in
bay 1, including the telescoping buckets used for access to the
          payload bay.

                       STS-34 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

Stacking operations are continuing on a non-interference
basis to shuttle mating activities. The left forward assembly is
scheduled to be stacked today and joint closeouts are active.
