KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - WEDNESDAY, JULY 12, 1989

                        STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - VAB

The Shuttle Interface Test started again yesterday morning
after the right aft solid rocket booster integrated electronics
assembly was replaced and reconnected. The test is scheduled to
be completed by late tonight. Connections between the tank,
boosters and launch platform will be verified during this test.
Tile operations are continuing in parallel with the Shuttle
Interface Test. Rollout preparations are scheduled for tomorrow.

Columbia's rollout is currently targeted for no earlier than
12:01 a.m. Friday, July 14. The countdown dress rehearsal test
with the STS-28 flight crew and launch team is scheduled to begin
at 8 a.m. Monday, July 17 and will culminate with a simulated
          engine cutoff at 11 a.m. July 18.

                      STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 2

Main engine electrical interfaces have been verified and
tests of the three main engines are planned today to verify the
operation of valves and actuators. Heat shields are scheduled to
be installed around the main engines later this week. Operations
continuing today include a functional check of the waste
containment system and structural inspections including x-rays.
Water servicing has been completed for the potable water system
          and the auxiliary power units.

Preparations are underway to install two getaway special
canisters containing an experiment package called Shuttle Solar
Backscatter Ultraviolet Scientific Payload (SSBUV). Installation
is planned for next week. The experiment is designed to provide
an accurate long term set of atmospheric ozone and solar
irradiance data by checking the calibration of the ozone sounders
          on satellites.

                       STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OMRF

Discovery was transferred from the OMRF to OPF bay 1 at 1
p.m. yesterday. Workers have established access to the vehicle
and are attaching the payload bay strongbacks. Power up and
payload bay door opening is planned for Monday.

                       STS-34 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

Stacking operations are continuing on a non-interference
basis to the STS-28 shuttle mating activities. The right forward
center segment was transferred to the VAB yesterday afternoon for
mating preparations. The mate will occur after the STS-28 vehicle
          rolls to the pad.
