KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - THURSDAY, JULY 13, 1989

                        STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - VAB

After assessing tile work to be performed in the Vehicle
Assembly Building, and in view of the possibility of adverse
weather conditions in the afternoons this time of the year,
managers decided this morning to postpone Columbia's roll to
Launch Pad 39-B until no earlier than 8 p.m. tomorrow night
(Friday, July 14). Columbia and its mobile launcher platform will
be hard down on the pad's pedestals at about 4 a.m. Saturday
morning. A few hours after hard down, the Rotating Service
Structure will be moved around the vehicle to allow access to
various areas of the shuttle for continued launch processing
activities. Saturday, technicians will hook up power and
          conditioned air to the shuttle.

The Shuttle Interface Test was completed at about 4 a.m.
this morning. Retest of the new solid rocket booster integrated
          electronics assembly was successful.

The countdown dress rehearsal test with the STS-28 flight
crew and launch team remains scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Monday,
July 17 and will culminate with a simulated engine cutoff at 11
          a.m. July 18.

                      STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 2

Main engine frequency response testing of the valves and
actuators and testing of the main propulsion system helium
regulators were completed. Technicians are scheduled to install
heat shields around the engines starting on Sunday. Operations
continuing today include a functional check of the waste
containment system and structural inspections including x-rays.

                     STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1

Discovery is being readied for power up next week. Power up
and payload bay door opening is planned for Monday. Orbiter
systems testing is planned to begin next week.

                       STS-34 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

Stacking operations are continuing on a non-interference
basis to the STS-28 shuttle mating activities. The right forward
center segment, located in the VAB transfer aisle, is being
prepared for mate to the stack. Segment lift and mate will occur
after the STS-28 vehicle rolls to the pad.
