KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - MONDAY, JULY 31, 1989

                  STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - LAUNCH PAD 39-B

On Saturday, technicians completed pressurization of
Columbia's hypergolic propellant storage tanks, loaded the dewars
on the Pad's fixed service structure with liquid oxygen and
liquid hydrogen and completed part one of ordnance installation
activities. Yesterday, two space suits were installed and checked
          out in Columbia's air lock.

On Friday, welding operations were completed to replace two
valves in the aft compartment for the main propulsion system
helium system. Today, technicians are reassembling the helium
system panel and are preparing for the engine frequency response
(FRT) scheduled to begin at midnight tonight. During the FRT
engine valves will be cycled and actuators will be checked out.

Launch countdown preparations will begin this week. Launch
of Columbia and mission STS-28 is scheduled for August 8 with a
launch period of 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. eastern time.

                      STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 2

Installation and check out of the left orbital maneuvering
system (OMS) pod has been completed. Tests of the OMS crossfeed
lines are planned today. Preparations for the helium signature
test of the main engines are underway with the test scheduled to
          begin tomorrow.

                     STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1

Power up operations and systems testing are planned today.
Preparations for filling and bleeding the hydraulic system are
underway. Modifications and tile work are underway. Testing of
the Ku-band antenna is planned this week. Ammonia servicing has
          been completed.

                       STS-34 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF

The STS-34 external tank was mated to the solid rocket
boosters Sunday afternoon. Cables are being connected between the
          two hardware elements today.

                                STS-32 EXTERNAL TANK

The external tank for the STS-32 mission, Columbia's LDEF
retrieval flight scheduled for launch in December, is scheduled
to arrive in the turn basin today. The tank will be offloaded and
transferred to a checkout cell in the VAB today and tomorrow.
