            KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - TUESDAY, AUG. 22, 1989

                       STS-32 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 2

               Columbia was demated from the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft
          yesterday and was towed to the Orbiter Processing Facility bay 2
          at about 12:30 a.m. this morning. Access stands and platforms are
          being assembled around the vehicle and power up testing is
          planned for Thursday.

                         STS-34  -  ATLANTIS (OV 104) - VAB

               Atlantis was "hardmated" to the external tank at 11:50 a.m.
          this morning. Removal of the sling is in work. Later today,
          technicians will connect the liquid hydrogen and oxygen tail
          service masts to the orbiter and electrical connections are
          scheduled tomorrow. Atlantis is scheduled to be in the VAB about
          eight days before being transferred to Launch Pad 39-B.

                     STS-33  -  DISCOVERY (OV 103)  -  OPF BAY 1

               Preparations are underway to install the right orbital
          maneuvering system pod today. Other activities scheduled today
          include installation of auxiliary power unit controllers, potable
          water servicing, orbiter modifications and thermal protection
          system operations. Securing of engines one and three is underway.

                         STS-33 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

               The left forward center segment is scheduled to be
          transferred to the VAB transfer aisle today. Booster stacking
          operations will continue on a non-interference basis with the
          STS-34 orbiter mating activities.
