KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - FRIDAY, SEPT. 8, 1989

                       STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - PAD 39-B

Today, the payload end-to-end test is underway to verify
communications between ground controllers and the Galileo
spacecraft and its Inertial Upper Stage.

Preparations are underway to replace one of the igniter
seals on the left solid rocket booster scheduled for tomorrow.
The pad will be cleared of all non-essential personnel while
workers replace the seal. Yesterday, workers replaced the right
          booster's igniter seal.

Preparations are underway to load the orbiter's onboard
storage tanks with hypergolic propellants. This activity is
scheduled to begin Monday. During this event, hypergolic
propellants will be loaded into Atlantis' orbital maneuvering
system and reaction control system storage tanks. In addition,
hydrazine will be loaded into the orbiter's auxiliary power units
and the solid rocket boosters' hydraulic power units.

The Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test with the STS-34
flight crew remains scheduled for Sept. 14 and 15.

                     STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1

Technicians connected the left orbital maneuvering system
pod to Discovery yesterday. Leak checks of the main propulsion
system are underway today. Orbiter systems testing and thermal
          protection system operations are continuing.

                       STS-32 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 2

Preparations are continuing to offload residual hypergolic
propellants from Columbia's internal lines. Validation of the
orbiter's electrical system and leak checks of the main propulsion
system helium system are continuing. Detailed post-flight tile
          inspections are underway.

STS-33 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

The right aft center segment was mated to the stack
yesterday. The right forward center segment is in the VAB and is
scheduled to be hoisted above the stack on Sunday. Technicians
are closing out the joints on the left booster for flight.
