KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - MONDAY, SEPT. 11, 1989

                       STS-34 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - PAD 39-B

The payload end-to-end test was completed on Friday and
verified communications between ground controllers and the
Galileo spacecraft and its Inertial Upper Stage. Also completed
this weekend, was the replacement of one of the igniter seals on
the left solid rocket booster. On Sunday, engineers completed a
test of the body flap to determine the amount of free play. The
amount of free play appears to be well within specifications,
however a thorough analysis of test results is underway.

The call-to-stations for loading the orbiter's onboard
storage tanks with hypergolic propellants occurred at 4 a.m.
today. The pad is scheduled to be closed this morning for the
two-day propellant loading operation. During this event,
hypergolic propellants will be loaded into Atlantis' orbital
maneuvering system and reaction control system storage tanks. In
addition, hydrazine will be loaded into the orbiter's auxiliary
power units and the solid rocket boosters' hydraulic power units.

The Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test with the STS-34
flight crew remains scheduled for Sept. 14 and 15. Flight crew
members are scheduled to arrive at KSC late tomorrow evening for
the test. The mock countdown is scheduled to begin with a call-
to-stations at 8 a.m. Thursday and will culminate on Friday with
a simulated cutoff at 11 a.m. at the T minus five second mark.

                     STS-33 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1

Technicians are conducting checks of the newly installed
left orbital maneuvering system pod. Main engine frequency
response testing was completed this weekend. A functional test of
the orbiter's radiators is scheduled today. Orbiter systems
testing and thermal protection system operations are continuing.

                       STS-32 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 2

Residual propellants were offloaded from Columbia this
weekend. The gaseous oxygen flow control valves and the gaseous
hydrogen control valves were removed this weekend for post-flight
inspections. Detailed post-flight tile inspections are underway.

STS-33 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

The right forward center segment was mated to the stack
early this morning. At about 5 a.m. the right forward segment was
transferred to the VAB and will be prepared for stacking. The
segment lift is planned for tomorrow. Technicians are closing out
the joints on the right and left boosters for flight.
