KSC SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - AS OF 9:45 A.M. 10/27/89

          DISCOVERY (OV-103), STS-33:

Discovery was rolled to Launch Pad B overnight. First motion
occurred at 11:31 p.m. Thursday night. The orbiter was "hard
down" on the pad at 7:34 a.m. Friday. Although the rollout at-
tempt was scheduled for 12:01 a.m., work was ahead of schedule,
and managers gave the go-ahead as soon as they received confir-
          mation of acceptable weather.
The STS-33 crew will arrive at KSC at 9:30 a.m. Saturday
morning for pad emergency egress training, briefings, and the
Countdown Demonstration Test. The test will begin on Sunday morn-
ing with a call to stations for the launch team at 7 a.m. On Sun-
day, the crew will be briefed, perform crew equipment fit checks
and sharp-edge inspections. The astronauts will be aboard Dis-
covery Monday morning for the last portion of the test, which
          will conclude with a simulated T-0 at 11 a.m.

          ATLANTIS (OV-104), STS-34 (EAFB)

Ferry flight managers are planning to return Atlantis to KSC
in a day-long flight Saturday, if weather permits. The tailcone
is on, the right-had ferry door has been installed, and work on
the left-hand door is in progress. It is anticipated that lift to
mate with the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft will occur at about 4 p.m.
today PDT. If a one-day ferry flight is successful, the orbiter
would arrive at KSC by 6 p.m. Managers are keeping a close eye on
the weather here at KSC and along the flight route. The flight
plan calls for a refueling stop at Kelly AFB, Tex.

Work continues in OPF Bay 2 to prepare Columbia for the LDEF
retrieval and SYNCOM-IV deployment launch Dec. 18. Hydraulic
operations and power reactant storage and distribution (PRSD)
testing were completed. The potty has been installed. Main engine
