I've seen mention in this newsgroup and elsewhere about Galileo's VEEGA trajectory. What, exactly, does VEEGA mean? The only thing I can come up with is Venus/Earth/Earth Gravity Assist. Is that close? Anybody know? Kevin R. Grazier Purdue: the home of astronauts Purdue University Physics Department and quarterbacks. Yes that is exactly what VEEGA stands for -- Venus/Earth/Earth Gravity Assist. The Galileo probe is using this complex trajectory to assist it towards Jupiter instead of using more fuel/energy for a direct flight to the Jovian planet. John Bigler jb6l@andrew.cmu.edu
