We have (or soon will have) 3 vax 750 running 4.2 on an ethernet
(10 Mbit using Deunas). As we have a fair ammount of disk space we are
worried about apeed and number of tapes involved in doing backups.
I would like to hear from anyone who has experience of doing dumps
accross an ethernet as we are considering in investing in 1 fast, hi density
tape drive to backup all 3 machines. Is dump accross the as fast as dump
locally, if not how much slower, how much is it affected by other traffic
on the net, etc.
Any replies (via email preferably) will be grateful received, I will
summarise to the net if there is any interest.
