I recently bought this album on the basis of several glittering reviews in the trade rags. On the basis of these reviews I came up with a some- what mixed review. If my memory serves me right, the two of them were the guiding force behind Fairport Convention. The new album sounds much the same - electrified folk music. Richard Thompson is a very accomplished writer and guitar player but is also a dead ringer for Gordon Lightfoot when he sings. His wife Linda also has a beautiful voice and the duets seem to fare better than Richard on his own [personal comment]. It's a very nice listening album as a whole, with some exquisite guitar work. But if your looking for a rock and roller - look elseware. Eight dollars poorer but esthetically richer
