STS-32 - LAUNCH PAD 39-A
Columbia was launched at the opening of the window yesterday
at 7:35:00.0731 a.m. EST. Minimal damage was reported at Pad A
from Columbia's launch. The two solid rocket boosters are under
tow today and should be in port by this morning. They will be
hoisted out of the water and put on stands for post-flight in-
spections and disassembly.
STS-36 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF BAY 1
The orbiter's midbody is being cleaned today, closeout in-
spections are being performed, main engine leak checks are under-
way and the low pressure oxidizer turbo pump on main engine num-
ber 3 is being replaced. All tiles have been bonded in prepara-
tion for Atlantis' upcoming flight next month. A positive pres-
sure structural leak test is planned for Thursday through Sunday.
Orbiter hydraulic system operations are planned Thursday and
Friday including cycling of the landing gear doors and cycling of
the brakes.
Rollover to the Vehicle Assembly Building is scheduled for
next week. Atlantis will be mounted on the orbiter transporter
and towed to the VAB transfer aisle. In the VAB, overhead cranes
will be hooked to the orbiter to hoist it off the transporter and
into position near the external tank.
STS-31 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 2
Activities planned this week include tests of the power
reactant storage and distribution system, checks of the orbital
maneuvering system and reaction control system, leak and func-
tional testing of the auxiliary power units, checks of the liquid
oxygen main propulsion system and checks of the orbiter's S-band
communications system.
