                  KSC SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT - FRIDAY, FEB. 9, 1990



                    STS-36 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - LAUNCH PAD 39-A


               Platforms have been put in place to give technicians  access
          to  connect  the  high  pressure  fuel turbo pump to the engine 3
          powerhead today.  The replacement pump will be connected  to  the
          powerhead  today  and  preliminary leak checks and duct alignment
          are planned tomorrow.

               NASA and contractor shuttle  program  managers  are  meeting
          here today and tomorrow for the Flight Readiness Review (FRR). An
          official  launch  date  and period is expected to be announced at
          the conclusion of the FRR.  The current target  launch  date  for
          STS-36 is February 22.

                        STS-32 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1

               Post-flight  orbiter  systems  tests  are underway including
          checks of the power reactant  storage  and  distribution  system.
          Rocketdyne  technicians  removed the numbers 1 and 3 engines yes-
          terday.

                       STS-31 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 2


               A communications test between the orbiter and payload inter-
          faces and the Goddard Space Flight Center and Johnson Space  Cen-
          ter via satellite is planned  tonight.  Operations to install in-
          strumentation, brakes and wheels are continuing today.

                        STS-31 - SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB

               Today, the right aft center segment is scheduled to be mated
          at the aft booster. Tomorrow night, the right forward center seg-
          ment is scheduled to be transferred to the VAB transfer aisle for
          stacking operations.
