A New York Times article this morning said that the Shuttle seemed to have gone up for an unusually long length of time before rolling; I don't know what their source was, since the launch looked about like this to me: PA Officer: T - 10, 9, [main engines start here] PAO: 8, 7, 6, 5, [SRB ignition and liftoff] Launch Director: Roll program. Creighton: Roger, roll. Launch Director: And the Shuttle has cleared the tower. CAPCOM: Houston now controlling... (OK, I exaggerated a bit, but I don't know who could have called that a LATE roll... Any comments?) -- jabishop@ecn.uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu "We meet again, Obi Wan. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but a learner. Now I am the Master." -- Darth Vader

Any comments?) I dunno. I watched a tape of the launch and tried to notice any differences in the roll due to the 62 degree inclination. The ONLY thing about the maneuver that appeared odd WAS that it seemed to be executed later into the launch than normal. -- Tom Ohmer @ Defense Logistics Agency Systems Automation Center, DSAC-AMB, Trailer 7, P.O.
