STS-31 LAUNCH MINUS TWO DAYS STATEMENT - APRIL 8, 1990
At the conclusion of today's STS-31 L-2 day launch review
Director of Space Shuttle Program Robert L. Crippen released the
following statement.
"At this time, the launch team is working no significant issues
which would preclude launch of STS-31 and the Hubble Space
Telescope on Tuesday, April 10 at 8:47 a.m. EST. The team is
investigating a minor problem with a short in a heater cable on
the aft External Tank strut. The heater is not involved for
launch and is not a constraint to launch. Technicians are
checking to make sure that the short has not influenced any other
systems. Launch processing will continue while this
issue is worked."
Final approval for launch of STS-31 will come after the L-1 day
meeting scheduled for 8:00 a.m. tomorrow.
