[sci.space.shuttle] hubble update for images

roberts@iisat.uucp (Greg Roberts) (06/01/90)

OK folks, I got innundated with mail saying I can't connect. Well, the
demand has been so great (almost 1000 connects since available), that the
university demanded that the images be removed. The sysop proposed that
anon ftp be terminated between 8 am and 6 pm so that the university can use
its only remaining iris, so note now the times (atlantic..for those in Maine,
add one hour, etc.) where they are available. It also appears that I will
be adding to the collection. I am in the process of getting a grey scale
first light image done, and cleaned up so the text is readable, and it
will be on shortly. I will now give each image a name rather than a sequence
name. And I will try to do some Voyager Neptune encounter gif's, but I will
not be able to get at those for a few weeks yet. I have scrounged another
machine on which I can grab images, I just have to learn how to use it, and
do the conversions.
Also, the images have been picked up by a few other sites where anon ftp
is available, with greater bandwidth, so I would suspect some postings to
indentify those sites will be appearing shortly. Now, ....if only I had a
gif viewer.....:-}
