KSC Space Shuttle Processing Status Report

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

                     STS-35 -- Columbia (OV 102) - OPF Bay 2

Final inspections of the 17-inch liquid hydrogen disconnect
continues today on the orbiter Columbia. Closeouts of the aft
compartment and final checks of the main propulsion system are in
work. Leak checks are being completed on the GOX flow control
valve and technicians are working on the high point bleed quick
          disconnect.

Columbia is expected to be ready for rollover to the Vehicle
Assembly Building for mating with the external tank and solid
rocket boosters first shift Tuesday. Rollout to Pad A is
          currently targeted for August 7.

Columbia with the ASTRO-1 payload is now scheduled for
          flight in early September.

                  STS-38 -- Atlantis (OV 104) - Launch Pad 39-A

Engineers continue to work a roll back contingency plan for
as early as Monday in case the tropical storm system in the
Caribbean threatens Florida's east coast. Current predictions,
however, show there will be no effects seen from the storm as it
continues on a westwardly track. Call to stations for this
contingency plan will occur this afternoon and the crawler
transporter will be moved to the pad gate. Nominal plans call for
roll back to occur August 6.

A complete photo survey of the shuttle's liquid hydrogen
umbilical was performed yesterday at the pad. Auxiliary power
unit number three will be removed from the orbiter's aft
compartment this weekend. SCAPE operations in preparation for
this work will commence early Saturday morning. Also, the Orbital
Maneuvering System pods helium tanks will be vented today.

                     STS-41 -- Discovery (OV 103) - OPF Bay 1

Installation of Discovery's forward reaction control system
will continue today with interface verification operations and
pressurization of the manifold in work. The right hand OMS pod
will be loaded aboard its transporter tonight at the Hypergolic
Maintenance Facility and moved to the Orbiter Processing Facility
for installation on the orbiter this weekend. RTG cooling flow
and leak checks are in work. Aerosurface cycling operations are
          scheduled to begin later today.
