KSC Space Shuttle Processing Status Report
-----------------------------------------------------------------
STS-35 -- Columbia (OV 102) - OPF Bay 2
Over the weekend the payload bay doors on Columbia were
closed following the final Orbiter Processing Facility servicing
of the ASTRO-1 payload. Final inspections on the 17-inch liquid
hydrogen disconnect are continuing. Closeouts of the aft
compartment and final checks of the main propulsion system are
complete.
Final go for rollover to the Vehicle Assembly Building is
currently on hold pending the arrival of a special tool needed to
perform checks on the liquid hydrogen 17-inch disconnect.
Rollover could be as early as Wednesday morning.
STS-38 -- Atlantis (OV 104) - Launch Pad 39-A
Preparations for hypergolic deservicing of the OMS/RCS
system is currently underway at Pad A. Engineers are also making
preparations to remove APU number three. Removal of the auxiliary
power unit is scheduled for late this week.
Rollback of Atlantis to the Vehicle Assembly Building is
based on Columbia's readiness for rollout to pad A. Engineers are
no longer working on the rollback weather contingency plan.
Rollback should occur mid-next week.
STS-41 -- Discovery (OV 103) - OPF Bay 1
Final checks following the installation of Discovery's
forward reaction control system continue today. Checks also
continue on the OMS/RCS systems, the RTG cooling flow and over-
pressurization decay operations, and door load tests. Final work
on the left hand OMS pod thermal barrier should be completed
today.
STS-41 -- ET/SRB - VAB High Bay 1
Preparations to move the external tank from the storage cell
to the transporter are in work today. Pending Columbia rollover
operations, the external tank for Discovery could be mated to its
solid rocket boosters by end of this week.
