Monday July 30, 1990 10:00 a.m. KSC Space Shuttle Processing Status Report ----------------------------------------------------------------- STS-35 -- Columbia (OV 102) - OPF Bay 2 Over the weekend the payload bay doors on Columbia were closed following the final Orbiter Processing Facility servicing of the ASTRO-1 payload. Final inspections on the 17-inch liquid hydrogen disconnect are continuing. Closeouts of the aft compartment and final checks of the main propulsion system are complete. Final go for rollover to the Vehicle Assembly Building is currently on hold pending the arrival of a special tool needed to perform checks on the liquid hydrogen 17-inch disconnect. Rollover could be as early as Wednesday morning. STS-38 -- Atlantis (OV 104) - Launch Pad 39-A Preparations for hypergolic deservicing of the OMS/RCS system is currently underway at Pad A. Engineers are also making preparations to remove APU number three. Removal of the auxiliary power unit is scheduled for late this week. Rollback of Atlantis to the Vehicle Assembly Building is based on Columbia's readiness for rollout to pad A. Engineers are no longer working on the rollback weather contingency plan. Rollback should occur mid-next week. STS-41 -- Discovery (OV 103) - OPF Bay 1 Final checks following the installation of Discovery's forward reaction control system continue today. Checks also continue on the OMS/RCS systems, the RTG cooling flow and over- pressurization decay operations, and door load tests. Final work on the left hand OMS pod thermal barrier should be completed today. STS-41 -- ET/SRB - VAB High Bay 1 Preparations to move the external tank from the storage cell to the transporter are in work today. Pending Columbia rollover operations, the external tank for Discovery could be mated to its solid rocket boosters by end of this week.
