KSC Space Shuttle Processing Status Report

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

                  STS-35 -- Columbia (OV 102) - VAB High Bay 3

Columbia was transferred to the Vehicle Assembly Building
yesterday with first motion out of the OPF occurring at 1:46 p.m.
Columbia was lifted over the transom and into high bay 3 at 4:15
this morning. Softmate of the vehicle to the external tank will
occur later this morning. Hard mate is expected by early tonight.
Hazardous gas leak checks are scheduled for Sunday along with
main engine heat shield ring inspections. Monday, interface tests
are scheduled to check the electrical and mechanical connections
between the orbiter and tank. Rollout to Pad A is targeted for
          12:01 a.m. Thursday Aug. 9.

                     STS-41 -- Discovery (OV 103) - OPF Bay 1

Discovery's payload doors are open and work to remove the
damaged portion of freon coolant loop number two is underway.
Today, technicians will drain the system of the refrigerant and
this weekend begin the operation to braze out the crimped portion
and replace it with a new section. RTG water service preps are in
work and the OMS\RCS checkouts continue. The APU removed from
Atlantis yesterday will be installed in the aft compartment this
weekend. At Pad B, to where Discovery will be rolled out later
this month, work is continuing on schedule. A liquid oxygen pump
test was successfully performed there yesterday.

                  STS-38 -- Atlantis (OV 104) - Launch Pad 39-A

APU number three was removed from Atlantis last night and it
has been transported to the OPF for installation into Discovery.
Yesterday, the payload bay torque tube was installed. Helium
mapping has been completed to date and helium injection tests are
scheduled for Saturday. Atlantis is scheduled to be rolled back
to the VAB at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, August 8. It will wait
outside the VAB until Columbia is moved out to pad A the
following day. Atlantis will then be moved into the VAB,
destacked, and returned to the OPF.

                         STS-41 -- ET/SRB - VAB High Bay 1

The external tank was mated with the solid rocket boosters
Wednesday. Mechanical verification checks are underway.
