After reentry DULL BROWN Two thoughts: 1) Rockwell produced modelling plans for Apollo Soyuz Test Project, Shuttle & ALT Shuttle/747, including colour schemes. Worth trying them to see if they still do them & have revised them. Address is: Rockwell International Space Transportation Systems Division 12214 Lakewood Boulevard Downey California 90241 USA 2) I am trying to make a 1/48 Monogram Gemini and am looking for colour details. Particularly, what were colours of outside (Blue or Black ?), cabin interior & pressure suits. Any really good references ? Any really good references ? |> |> Nick |> -- The re-entry capusle is black. It was covered with the same byrillium shingles that were used on the Mercury capsule. The 'Equipment Module' and 'Retro Module' were painted white. And there was a gold-coated Mylar cover over the open end of the Equipment Module. Cabin interior was aircraft grey, except for the seat and hatch padding, which were drab (military aircraft) khaki (or "olive drab"). Space suits were white with color-coded fittings, and I think the parachute harnesses were, once again, that sickly green. References: 1. I pop on down to JSC and look the Gemini spacecraft and spacesuits on display. 2. There are loads of photographs to look at. I trust the Apollo CM appearance issue has been dealt with already. You could win an argument with almost any rock! P.S. Back in 1965, I painted my first Gemini capsule green because of the rotten color balance in the pictures of the Gemini 4 space walk that I had from Life magazine. I didn't think that the capsule was green, but those pictures said so. (It wasn't, the pictures were wrong).
