[sci.space.shuttle] Old ways are best!

Maybe the people who post to this conference read the same science fiction that
I do. The idea of seperate ground to orbit and orbit to orbit vehicles, that
are all resuable was used by a number of people, including Heinlein etc.

Maybe I should also point out that this is a great idea. After all we don't
have aircraft that deliver door to door, we have small vehicles that are much
mor efficient around town, and the aircraft just fly airport to airport. The
same with almost all mass transport, except for the space program.

So far nobody seems to be saying that this idea is wrong, but how come nothing
is being done about it. (Perhaps too many people at Nasa read Pournell's
Jannisaries stories where the ships land, takeoff, fly faster then light and
are re-usable all in one small neat package.

Just one last word. If it has worked for hundreds of years (the method that is)
why try and change it with flakey technology stretched to its limit.
