KSC PAYLOAD STATUS REPORT January 25, 1991 Mitch Varnes 407/867-2468 FTS 823-2468 ---------------------------------------------------------------- STS-39 (Late February 1991) The STS-39 Payload Readiness Review (PRR) Flight Certification Review (CFR) was held at KSC on January 24. No major issues were raised during the meeting, and all members of the STS-39 payload community agreed that the payloads are ready to be transported to the launch pad. CLOUDS-1A and RME-III are situated in Discovery's mid-deck in the Orbiter Processing Facility. CRO, CIV and MPEC are also in the OPF and mounted inside the forward section of Discovery's payload bay. AFP-675, IBSS and STP-1 are in the Vertical Processing Facility and scheduled to be taken to Pad 39-A on or about February 3. STS-42 (December 1991) International Microgravity Laboratory Checkout and testing of the IML-1 elements is proceeding at Test Stand 2 of the Operations & Checkout Building High Bay. Instal- lation of the IML-1 floor and experiment rack into the Spacelab module is underway. The Spacelab's aft end cone is scheduled to be moved to Test Stand 2 within the next two weeks. STS-45 (March 1992) ATLAS-1 Buildup and integration of the ATLAS-1 payload is underway in the Level IV area of the O&C High Bay. The payload is being readied for its first powered-up test on February 4.
