[sci.space.shuttle] Shuttle Launch Schedules

friedman@mbcl.rutgers.edu (01/30/91)

I see that STS 38 is scheduled for launch sometime in May 1991. Is there any
idea if it will be the beginning or end of May. I've never seen a launch and
will be in Orlando at the end of May.

You have been looking at an old manifest. STS-38 launched on November 15,
1990. Below is the latest manifest (I think). My source is NASA's
electronic 803 Access. In another posting I'll describe what that is.

The February flight has already been delayed into early March because of the
necessity to replace several of the on-board thrusters. That has been done and
I believe they're now shooting for the 1st or 2nd week of March. I have
heard no word if the other flights will be delayed. Experience has shown that
these projected schedules have relatively little to do with the actual launch
dates. If you're coming in late May, there is a good chance you will be here
within a few weeks of a launch...its hard to tell which one, though.

Please...no flames...I'm not being critical...just stating facts of life here
on the Space Coast. BTW, if you're down here and have the chance,
its well worth the 30-minute drive to the coast to view a launch.
