I recently purchased a scanner at Radio-Shack here in Huntsville. I saw a list of interesting frequencies and noticed one that said NASA Space Shuttle frequency 173.025. Its been a coupla of months since the last mission, and I am curious as to what this is. Can any of you Huntsvillians answer the following questions for me? Is this broadcast 24 hours a day during a mission, or is it just for launch? Is it the NASA select audio, or does it have some local flavor to it? Who is responsible for the signal, is it a private group or MSFC. How strong is the signal? Do I have to be around MSFC or can I hear it all over town (ie: my house)? I asked these questions to the salesman, and he didn't have a clue. Thanks in advance for the answers. Sorry to waste bandwidth for non-Huntsvillians, but I figured this would be the best forum to ask this question.
