[net.unix-wizards] Converting from 4.1bsd ==> SVR2 uucp

Greg McGary <lcc.gm@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA> (01/25/85)

We are currently running 4.1BSD uucp and we would like to start running
the SVR2 uucp.

Ideally, I would like to simply replace the various /usr/bin/uu*
binaries and have everything run as before, but I suspect there may be
some differences in the /usr/lib/uucp and /usr/spool/uucp* hierarchies,
and in the formats of some of the configuration files. I would certainly
dislike having to install SVR2 uucp from scratch.

Has anyone performed this conversion before, or does someone know
the two uucp's in sufficient detail to point out (in)compatibilities?

Please respond to me directly by mail. With or without help from
netland, I'll do the conversion and post a summary of what I've
learned.

Thanx!
