  KSC SHUTTLE STATUS  -  THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 1991  -- 10:00 a.m.

         STS-40/SLS-1  -  COLUMBIA (OV 102)  -  ON ORBIT


WORK IN PROGRESS:
*  Solid Rocket Booster recovery ships are scheduled to arrive
Port Canaveral today at 11:30 a.m. and at Hanger AF before 3:00
p.m.
*  Engineers report minimal damage to pad 39-B and mobile
launcher platform following launch yesterday. No damage was
reported in the payload changeout room.

WORK COMPLETED:
*  Launch of Columbia on mission STS-40 with the Spacelab Life
Sciences module occurred yesterday, June 5, at 9:24.51 a.m. EDT.

WORK SCHEDULED:
*  Move mobile launcher platform to VAB high bay 3 (Monday)
*  Columbia is currently scheduled to land at Edwards Air Force
Base, Calif. at 1:14 p.m. EDT, Friday, June 14.


        STS-43/TDRS-E  - ATLANTIS (OV 104)  -  OPF Bay 2
                       LAUNCH JULY\AUGUST
WORK IN PROGRESS:
*  Main engine and main propulsion system checks
*  Main engine heat shield installation
*  Thermal protection system tile work
*  Replacement of left OMS engine actuator due to malfunction
during gimbaling test
*  Payload integration verification test
*  Environmental Control and Life Support System servicing
*  Landing gear functional test

WORK COMPLETED:
*  Main landing gear strut hydraulic level check
*  Gaseous nitrogen leak check
*  Installation of OMS heatshield

WORK SCHEDULED:
*  SSME interface leak checks
*  Payload verification tests
*  Crew equipment interface test

CONCERNS: During leak check of MPS, Helium Supply Tank number 4
was found to be source of helium leak in aft compartment.
Replacement of tank may be necessary.

        STS-48/UARS  --  DISCOVERY (OV 103)  -  OPF BAY 1

WORK IN PROGRESS:
*  Auxiliary Power Unit lube oil servicing
*  Water Spray Boiler leak and functional tests
*  Main propulsion system and OMS pod system checks

WORK SCHEDULED:
*  TACAN system checks
*  Main engine controller checkouts


       STS-49  --  ENDEAVOUR (0V 105)  --  VAB High Bay 2

WORK IN PROGRESS:
*  Main propulsion system leak checks
*  Thermal Protection System work
*  Environmental Control Life Support system checks
*  Partial removal of 2 and 4 inch liquid hydrogen lines


 STS-43 EXTERNAL TANK/SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS  --  VAB High Bay 1

WORK IN PROGRESS:
*  Electrical mates and checkouts
*  Replacement of lower strut firing line cable
