I was more than a little shocked to hear CBS news report on the STS-40 that
the crew of seven contained "Four doctors and three women". They didn't
mention that one of the women is a doctor. This was also reported in the
San Francisco Examiner's Rob Morse column today along with a note that the
San Francisco Chronicle (I enjoy SFs bickering newspapers) reported that NASA
had sent "Man and beast into space." Rob Morse commented that he hoped the
beast didn't refer to the women. He also mentioned that when he heard that
the shuttle had contained a number of rats and jellyfish he was surprised to
hear that any of SF's supervisors were out of town. Isn't San Francisco a
wonderful town?
