A short while ago, I saw a request (probably in other newsgroups) for software that manipulates B-TREE. I did not realize I had the same need at that time, so please excuse me for repeating the request. We need software that run on UNIX to manipulate a variety of file structures, from sequential, direct-access, index sequential, to B-tree, B*-Tree, etc. I guess we are mostly interested in B-Trees, but would like to learn about the others too. The software is for instruction purpose. The purpose is let students write programs to manipulate files without actually coding the access routines. Therefore, we actually need a library of such routines rather than an integrated product such as a DBMS. If you are aware of, produce or market such software, I would appreciate if you could send me a mail noting where I could get it, languages from which the library is callable, costs, comments and opinions about the quality of the software, etc. Thank you in advance.
