Reading about catalogs (or data dictionaries) of DBMS's, I often encounter the following phrases: - a passive catalog - an integrated catalog - a dynamic catalog - an active catalog Since these terms are not very consistently used, it is not clear to me in which aspects they differ (especially in the last two cases).
