Is someone out there willing to go out on a limb and recommend a database book to me? I am new to databases and therefore am looking for a book I can use both as a self-teaching text, and as a reference book. I have in mind a book similar to "Principles of Database Systems" by Jeffrey Ullman. I read large chunks of this book and I like its mixture of topics, and of theoretical vs. practical levels of presentation. My only problem with it is that it's copyright is 1980. I would like something newer. My gratitude to anyone who responds. Please use e-mail if possible. My "Will Sonnet" .signature: "No humor, just fact".
