This question is directed to the folks at Relational Technology Inc. I hope
I'm not imposing!
We are developing an ABF application that needs to communicate with
another, detached, process. The communication program will be written in
C and linked to the application. This question really concerns the use of
mailboxes in VMS but I've already posted this question to the comp.lang.c
newsgroup and have not gotten a response. I know that Ingres uses VMS
mailboxes to communicate between the front and backends so somebody out
there in RTI land must know something about the subject. What I would really
like is some example C code that would demonstrate the use of mailboxes. Also,
any information on privilege settings would be helpful.
And, as long as I'm asking, if anybody has VMS C code to determine if a detached
process is hung, i.e. infinite loop; crash; etc, I'd like to see it. I'm not
looking for a VMS monitor type program. What I am looking for is a function
I can call that returns a flag indicating whether a process is hung.
Any response is greatly appreciated- though any response related to the
subject is more appreciated!
