I looked around a long time for SYBASE comparisons to other RDBMS. The problem you'll run into is that once you've finished your study, there's been an update to one of the products. Everyone has benchmarks showing how great their product is, but you cannot compare benchmarks unless the hardware is the same. To give SYBASE a plug... They have a document which shows some popular DB benchmarks run on various systems (Sun, Vax, ...) and validated by an "independant" company. If you know the results you want, this is a good document. The final results I got was nothing "hard" (ie. to show to your supervisor), but a lot of "I think it's the best" and "It's so much faster than what we were using." Another SYBASE plug... They supplied us with an evaluation copy (I don't know if it cost anything) and helped us fine tune the database for our application. All this before we decided if we're going to use SYBASE. I give them an "A" for "before-the-sale" effort.
