[comp.databases] Using SQL to apply transaction to a table

sjohnson@cetc.Wichita.NCR.COM (Steve Johnson) (11/01/88)

Using Oracle 5.0.20.3

Part Table 1 [Part transaction table] Part Table 2

1. Part Table 1 and Part Table 2 are initially identical.
     (The tables contain identical rows.)

2. Part Table 1 primary key is part number.

3. A series of transactions take place to Part Table 1.

4. When Part Table 1 is updated, updates(Adds, Changes, Deletes)
are written to a Part transaction table and are date/time stamped
and the transaction type (Add, Change, Delete) recorded.

5. Updates are verified against Part table 1.

6. A row in Part table 1 can be updated multiple times.

I want to apply this transaction table to Part table 2 in date/time
order to get Part table 2 to the same state as Part table 1.

QUESTION:

Using SQL can you do this???
