[net.music] A video show worth watching

I just watched the second installment of a new show on MTV: "120 Minutes".
It airs 1-3 AM EST (yes, pretty late for you east coasters, but not too
bad for us westerners). The purpose of the show is to give exposure
to up-and-coming bands who have videos. It was apparently created in
an attempt to appease the record companies, who have been complaining
lately about the lack of exposure for new artists on video outlets.
The selection of artists is pretty diverse: this week they showed videos
by The Golden Palaminos, The Violent Femmes, Public Image, Stan Ridgeway,
and Elvis Costello, among many others. There is some crap as well, such
as a video by Virginia Wolfe (a group containing John Bonham's son,
oh boy! :-)), but at least you haven't seen it 1000 times. And there's
no sign of such somniforific groups as Starsh*t or Sade.

If you've got the time or a VCR, check this one out. It's not too bad!
