I am in need of information about Focus, by Information Builders. I know a number of people that use the MVS and VM versions, but nobody that has any experience with the Unix version. I recall hearing that the first port was really bad, for example, databases could write past the end of file systems and other nastiness, but I would assume this sort of thing has been long taken care of. The advantages of Focus we have initially identified include end-user programability, and ad hoc report writing. Most of my experience is with Ingres, Informix and Tuxedo, none of which one would feel too comfortable unleashing an end user on (or unleashing on an end user, depending on how you look at it ;-) I'm interested in hearing from people that have used Unix Focus for small to medium sized applications with hardwired reports and transactions as well as ad hoc reporting. How clean are the library functions from C? Has the product been pleasant to use? Does it seem reliable? That sort of thing. Please reply to me directly, and I'll summarize if it seems appropriate. Thanks, Gregg Siegfried grs@alobar.att.com {att}!alobar!grs
