[comp.databases] FoxBASE+/Mac Vs. IBM

dp22+@andrew.cmu.edu (David Bruce Pinkus) (02/04/89)

Hello again...

I was wondering if anybody has used FoxBASE for both the Macintosh and
IBM and if they could tell me how difficult, if it is possible, it is to
convert an IBM FoxBASE application to the Macintosh.. I'm working on a
FoxBASE application for the IBM, but I'd really, really like to have it on
the MAC also.. Should I finish it on the IBM and port it over, or should I
simultaneously work on both? ANY Information on FoxBase would be really
appreciated. Thanks

It's not difficult at all. Assuming that you've used @ ..SAY etc. to paint
your screens, the application will port with minor changes. Just be sure
that IBM file paths (with \) are changed to Mac file paths (with :). It
won't be a very Mac-like application (and won't thrill Mac users), but
it will run. To make the Mac people happy, you've got to add Mac-like menus,
Mac-like data entry screens, and Macintosh dialog boxes...
