Hello everybody, We use INFORMIX-SQL (version 2.10) in a technical area that involves a lot of use of dates and times for the synchronization and scheduling of various events. Informix does not have a "TIME" type (like say, UNIFY), but we would still like to work with the time of the day in some way. Our question is then, is there some already implemented, or standard way of "adding" to, or handling a time type in Informix, that is already floating around out there? We have only just received Informix and therefore have just started to overcome its limitations, and adapt it to our needs. We assume that a solution may involve the UNIX (we run Sys. 5.2) system time, but are wondering if doing our own version is in some way re-inventing the wheel. Any answers, comments etc... would be much appreciated. Thanks, P. Lincoln.

To my knowledge, INFORMIX will have a date-time data type in its next release. Not sure when that is due out, but I beleive it's within the next few months. It might save you some time to just wait for it rather than inventing something yourself. Your INFORMIX rep. should be able to give you the details. Matt
